Josh Foley/Elixir
From Canonwars
Josh Foley comes from the New Mutants and New X-Men: Academy X titles, as well as a few other moments in main titles. He’s a healer. His codename is “Elixir” for a reason, even if it references the philosopher’s stone, as well. He’s known to be a bit of an ass, but a good guy, as well. He knows how to help people, but he tends to go about the wrong way of doing it (often doing it for the glory), but he’s come a long way and he’s definitely matured. He’s friends with most of the New Mutants, even if he lost a lot of them with M Day. He comes in from the most recent comic, but in his normal state (given that the people in the canonwars’ world would likely not dream him up catatonic).

Background
Josh Foley was a member of the anti-mutant organization, Purity, when he was found. He was against mutants (so to speak), and when Dani Moonstar found him, it seemed like he didn’t want to face the fact that he was a mutant. But when Donald Pierce tried to kill Laurie Collins, he came to her rescue by healing her and thus showing off his powers. He tried to return home to his family afterward, but they rejected him. He ended up moving to the institute before long.
At first, he was friends with Julian Keller and his friends, but once Julian learned from Emma Frost that Josh was a former member of Purity, he rejected Josh and forced him to become a loner. Josh ended up, strangely, growing close to his roommate David Alleyne and the girl he helped save, Noriko Ishida, Sofia Mantega, and Jay Guthrie. Because of this friendship, they all became advisees under Dani Moonstar. Dani was even more to him—she became his guardian.
It was this fact that made things rather complicated when Josh decided to date one of the teachers at the Institute, Rahne Sinclair. The relationship carried on for some time until he grew attracted to Laurie. As he grew closer to Laurie, Rahne noticed and eventually broke off things. This didn’t save everything, though, because though Josh was close to her, there was someone else who was jealous of things: Kevin Ford. He told Emma and Scott about Rahne and Josh, a fact that eventually got around the school. It forced Josh and Laurie apart—for some time, even, because most of their friends stopped talking to him (with the exception of Noriko).
After M Day, Laurie lost the use of one of her hands when Kevin excitedly touched her and withered away one of her hands. Josh couldn’t heal it, no matter how much he tried, and he ended up spending days and days in bed with the injured girl. Laurie ended up being killed by William Stryker’s assassin, and when Josh saw Stryker, he attacked him and killed him with his increasing abilities. As a result, he ended up the color black and catatonic.
In Purgatory
Josh has successfully managed to lead the anti-Xaviers movement on the island by going after Emma Frost informed her that they only trusted her. He felt as if Emma had decided to forget about her students and argued (and whined) at her as much as he could. In the end, he (and Laurie, who he was back with at this point in time) arrived at Scott and Emma’s house and moved right in. They spent the night there before Emma essentially forced all of the new mutants out.
He’s currently ignorant of the fact that his girlfriend is still friendly with Kevin Ford, the boy who nearly killed her, and he will feel very betrayed when it comes out that this has been occurring still.
