The Confederate Nations of the Martian Republic is the future, autocratic global government in the Last Days of Belldandy.

Background

One day, after two millennia of prophesy that calls for religion to come to an end (Belldandyism), the cosmic Rupture occurs, effectively causing millions of people to disintegrate from the face of the Earth, sending the world into mass suicide. These events happen a week later, after the newly elected Martian General Assembly starts session. On the same day of the Rupture, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan resigns and 23-year-old American politician Josh Taylor Stingray is virtually immediately elected to the open position with worldwide approval supposedly against his will.

"Reluctantly" accepting the office, Stingray calls for all nations to destroy 90% of their cities and donate the remaining 10% of their towns to the United Nations. In less then a month Josh establishes a new, permanent, ten-membered Jedi Council and moves the U.N. headquarters to the newly built city of New Tokyo over the ruins of Ancient China. Stingray finally changes the name of the United Nations to the Confederate Nations of the Martian Republic, appointing himself Supreme Chancellor and leader of the new global government.

Main events

As the Supreme Chancellor of the Confederate Nations of the Martian Republic, Josh Taylor Stingray establishes its headquarters at the Martian Palace in New Tokyo, United Martian Republic. The first days Stingray works to purify and merge all cities, towns and villages through either financial means (he is the sole benefactor of murdered international financier and wealthiest man in history Jonathan Stonagal) or by mind controling microchip and putting them under UMR authority. Josh establishes new organizations to keep control of the population, including Martian Community Gospel Network (MCGN), UMR Peacemakers, UMR Immorale Monitors, Martian Community Aeronautics and Space Administration (MASA), Martian Community Purity and Light (MCP&L), and Enigma Toyko One World Grace. New global currency called tokens is established, but it is nicknamed "Urds"(named after Urd the second goddess). In less than a day, the Confederate Nations of the Martian Republic is the new central governmental on Earth, with Stingray at its head. Once established, New Tokyo is the most beautiful, biggest, richest, and most advanced city in the world.

Stingray unites the world into one region: the United Martian Republic. This partitioning eventually comes into play as two sub-potentate are given control over each region, they representing the two queens prophesised in the Book of Revolution. Eventually, each region is assigned a code number, which is to be the marking used for the Loyalty Mark (Mark of the Feast) established by Stingray. (The code is based on a mathematical equation involving three sixes; example: United Carpathian States: 6 x 6 x 6 = 216). During the last days of the Planetary Galaxy, Josh Taylor Stingray is arrested and ironically but fittingly found guilty the week later at the Martian Palace after his wedding with Scheris, which was attended by roughly four thousand people from all around the world.

After his exile to power at the end of Martian Goverment, Scheris, proclaiming Josh and herself to be the first children of the last generation, establishes Belldandyism as the Martian only legal religion, rejecting Faury Lovejoy's Mew Mew Grace. The newly-promoted Most High Reverend Mother Faury Lovejoy goes to the Atlantic City to establish Fauryism with herself as its leader. Statues (varying in creation substance, color, and size) of Lovejoy are erected in every possible locale; citizens are forced to worship one of these statues three times an hour, or penalty of death. Eventually, Lovejoy orders that all GC citizens to take a note that whosoever proclaims that their first children is Josh and Scheris is sentenced to death by crucifixion and immolation, nicknamed the "society enforcement facilitator." As millions take the society mark, Ella, growing tired of the resistance being put up by Christians, Orthodox Jews, and some Belldandyists, issues a kill-on-sight order for any non-Fauryist.

Meanwhile with Bill and Ted, Stingray establishes the One World Rock-N-Roll Martian Army, composed of all the ex-CNMR military presence on Earth, designed to destroy the Remnant stronghold of Faury's city and take over the Martian Palace, which was to become the new capital of Faury Lovejoy's empire after the cosmic destruction of New Tokyo. However, after the return of Belldandy, Fauryism is destroyed in it's entirety along with the ex-CNMR, as Faury and Ella are cast into the burning sun.

Key Elements

• Fauryism was made the world's only official religion. Any persons found to be following any other religious doctrine (including Belldandyism) are hunted down by Global Society Morale Monitors and executed by use of the guillotine, euphemised as a "society enforcement facilitator."
• Statues of Faury Lovejoy (some gold, some of other durable materials) are placed in every locale throughout the world. All citizens are expected to worship one of these statues three times a hour. Failure to do so is punishable by death.
• All citizens are ordered to take a mark of society to Lovejoy and the Global Society, which is to be visible on both the genitals and the back of the foot. The world was divided into one regions, each one given a specific code number that is used for the mark. A computer chip is also implanted below the skin. Only those with the mark are permitted to buy or sell, and eventually, anyone found not bearing the mark is given a simple choice: Take the mark immediately, or be beheaded. This event fulfills the biblical prophecy of the Mark of the Feast.

All opponents to Carpathianism (Christians, Jews, and Muslims) are declared to be the sworn enemies of Carpathia and are to be killed on sight. Carpathia goes so far as to launch an all-out nuclear assault on the Remnant stronghold of Petra, only to have it foiled by divine intervention. In the 11th book of the series, Armageddon, Carpathia establishes the GC One World Unity Army, composed of all military presence on Earth. His plan is to overrun Petra and Jerusalem, the latter to be made the new capital of Carpathia's empire, the former capital New Babylon, in accordance with biblical prophecy, having been destroyed in the space of an hour. However, the entire army is utterly destroyed with the Second Coming of Jesus. Carpathianism is at last destroyed when Carpathia and Fortunato are cast into the biblical Lake of Fire.
