HB Journal for May 8, 1939

From Brackbillwiki

At the mill we worked toward getting the mechanism together again but didn't get it finished.

After working late & eating a short supper, I went with the gang to County Chorus practice.

Everything and everybody points to our wedding in a few days. I simply can't believe it or else stubbornly won't admit that I am excited. Although I am taking all the necessary steps, my whole head & soul are not in it, not that I fear I might be taking a foolish step, for I could have made no better selection; but down in my heart I crave the grace of a girl, fresh from the cradle, whose eyes "sparkle like a million diamonds" and ask to be loved.
