One day to come, and when I write this I wonder what I have done of any permanent value in the 364 days this volume has so far accounted for.

I have done nothing of which I am resentful on this next last day; but a few things I am quite proud to have done -- the chief being my helping John to total the books this afternoon free gratis.

After supper we took our 2 children & went over home to a party in honor of Bill & Short. It was swell and "she" was there -- giving me heartaches I am fool enough to nurse & humor along.
