HB Journal for Aug 14, 1939
From Brackbillwiki
After an early awakening, I rolled out of bed to a fresh week's start. We did the best we could at the mill but were handicapped with a boss who was sunburned, sleepy & probably a little sick -- with all due respects to him.
It was hot again and slightly cloudy. We wanted rain but got none again.
In the afternoon John was abed at home & we drifted along without him.
After supper I transferred my laying hens (of which there are six) to botteries & cleaned the henhouse. Jane ironed & I later read. We had boy visitors & enjoyed our troubles.
