Brackbill Reunion, 1949

70 members of the Brackbill family met at the Strasburg Mennonite Church for the third family re-union.
The president, Landis Brackbill, welcomed the family and introduced the Rev. Herman Brackbill, who conducted the devotions.
Mr. Landis Brackbill explained that the promised speaker was unable to be present, so he spoke briefly on "What a family reunion should be and what it can do for the country." the president's remarks were brief but they contained food for thought for all of us.
Mr. Martin Brackbill, Sr. substituting for his son, the family historian, spoke on Landmarks of the Brackbill family; he also said that Christian Brackbill, a returned soldier, had some pictures of the original Brackbill homestead in Switzerland, which he would pass around. It was suggested that sets of these pictures be prepared for sale at the next reunion.
The president then called for a short business meeting. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Mr. Hebron Breckbill, treasurer reported on the condition of the family graveyard - it had been mown twice, and some of the tombstones were straightened and re-set, at a cost of $38.00 There is $63.00 in the cemetery fund, and $6.30 in the general account. It was moved, seconded and carried that the treasurer's report be accepted.
The president then called for the report of the Nominating committee: the Rev. Herman Brackbill for president, Mr. Benjamin R. Brackbill, vice-president, Lucile Brackbill, secretary, Mr. Martin H. Brackbill, corresponding secretary, Mr. Hebron Breckbill, treasurer, Mr. Martin H. Brackbill, jr., historian. It was moved, seconded and carried that nominations be closed and the secretary cast the ballot.
The collection amounted to $29.83
Cards were passed and all present were asked to register.
The new president was introduced, and after an informal discussion as to the type of reunion preferred, the meeting adjourned.
