On Ben 10verse Pedia, there are guidelines for editing protected pages. A protected page has usually been protected for a good reason. If you are an Admin, you can edit the protected page, although you should only add or take away information if information is no longer good or if you want to add something notable.

Why are some pages protected?

Page protection is a small shield that can be activated to prevent members, but, more importantly, vandals, from editing. Usually, pages pertaining to the wiki itself are protected to prevent vandals from messing with the site.

Page protection can also be used for stopping edit conflicts. Members may always comment on page protection on the respective talk pages of protected pages.

A page that is not high-security should not be protected if a single vandal attacks it. In that case, the vandal should be blocked for a time of a week or so (if the vandal is trying to systematically vandalize more that one page, then he/she should be banned for more time), and the vandalism should be reverted by going to the "diff" button on the Recent Changes page referring to the vandalism, and then pressing "rollback". This reverts the vandalism to the edit previous to that.

Editing protected pages

Admins should only edit protected pages when there is something to take away from a page that is outdated, or to add something useful.
