Land Usage in Aryez
From Aryez
Land Usage in Aryez refers to the way land is used in Aryez. Traditionally, land is divided as this: 60% Wild, 25% Farm, 15% urban. This reflects the fact that around 65% of Aryezi land is either mountainous or forested and is unsuitable for industry or agriculture. It also reflects the fact that Aryezi are very particular about protecting their natural heritage and their land. As a result, unlike many industrialized and modern economies, Aryez has managed to preserve most of its pristine and natural landscape, untouched and thriving. Although this "wild" land is sometimes used for logging, mining, fishing, and hunting, these must be done in a limited and sustained fashion and guidelines are strict. Agricultural development usually focuses on large commercial farms designed to feed Aryez's huge population. However, for the sake of the health of the Aryezi people and the environment, the farms are sustainable, as organic as possible, and grow a variety of crops using methods best for the land that produce the most food possible. Other non-food items, are grown of course. Aryez also has some mining and oil on its farm-lands. Only about 20% of all Aryezi live in Agricultural areas. The other 80% live on the 15% of land that is in heavily built-up and population dense urban areas. These mega-cities are hubs of industry, business, and commerce, as well as cultural centers. Due to lack of space, almost all of them are built up, and many open spaces are built on the tops of buildings. Many cities have several levels and layers. Some cities will also feature greenhouses to grow more food.
