Sometime in the 1880's, a church formed in this Scottish community.

Rufus Gilmore Callison, pioneer of 1852 and son of Gilmore and Elizabeth Callison, moved to this area to engage in stock-raising. His wife was Martha. His brother Robert Marshall Callison also moved here before 1900.
