Take the East Road

You turn your steed to the east, and ride own down the road that heads toward Windlok. To your right, far into the distance, shadowed against the horizon are the Grayfall mountains, rising like jagged teeth into the sky. To your left are the deep woods called the Kyrdlin Forest, a place of legend amongst the people. Some say both the Red Witch, a terrible and powerful sorceress, and the Woodland Queen, a fairie with a taste for human meat, call the place home. You've never met a soul who's come across either, so you've dismissed them both.
You ride for nearly an hour when you come to a fork in the road. The path straight ahead is wider, and heads seemingly due east. To your left, the path diverges off into the woods, and in the distance you can see smoke rising from a small stone cottage. You consider which route to investigate.
