You quickly run back to your house to ask your mom for the $20.
When you get there you see that she has already left for work. You remember that she keeps some cash in her dresser, and decide to grab it, you'll pay her back later. Or she can take it out of next month's allowance. Doesn't matter either way.
You pocket the cash and head back to the bus stop, hopefully you haven't missed the bus, but at least you have the cash to pay Joan back.
The bus has just pulled up as you are half a block away, and you sprint the last little bit while the other passengers board. You make it, and flashing your bus pass to the driver you make your way to the back to find a free seat.
The trip to school passes uneventfully, and you meet up with Joan on your way to first period. You pass her her winnings and she tries not to gloat too much about her victory.
When you get there, the school bully blocks your way, and demands that you let him copy your essay. You forgot it was due today and left your half finished essay at home. Joan lets Tony copy off her, but he seems to want to talk to you still. Part way through class, Joan passes you a note that says Tony likes you. You scribble back that he is gross and mean and you are not attracted to him, but the teacher looks up to see you passing the note back, and gives both you and Joan detention.
"That's not fair Mr. McNeil!" Joan protests. Mr. McNeil explains that he thinks you were cheating off each other and you both need detention.
Do you:
- Read the note aloud and possibly hurt Tony's feelings to avoid detention.
- Go to detention, it is not worth fighting, and maybe you can complete an essay by the end of the day to prove the teacher wrong.
