"Hi Liam," you call. You smile at him.

"Hi Kara," He smiles back. "Aren't you going to be late for school?"

"Yes, I got a flat tire, and thought I might catch Lisa on her way to school." You answer, and you wish you'd worn something a little nicer today, you've had a bit of a crush on Liam for a while.

"You just missed her, unfortunately." He puts some stuff in the trunk of his car, and says, "I'm running a bit late, and going the opposite direction," he adds.

"Oh nuts, and I know I've missed the bus now too." You say. "If I paid you..?" You begin hopefully.

He checks his watch, and sighing, agrees.

"Oh thanks Liam, I appreciate this so much!" You say sincerely, and get in the passenger seat of his car.

He smiles in response, and starts the car. He does look a little stressed about driving out of the way to the school, and you start to rummage in your wallet for some money for his time and effort.

You realize you have a bus ticket, but no money currently. You have a bank card, but you can't really ask him to stop at the bank on the way, since he is already late.

You really owe him big time for this favour, but maybe you should just try to catch a different bus and not inconvenience him further.

"I, uh... I don't know how to say this, but I don't actually have cash like I thought I did." You look at him apologetically. You are torn, because you know if you take the bus you will miss your first class entirely. "I can totally just catch a bus instead, I'm sorry."

"Honestly," he says, "that would really be better, I truly am running behind." He pulls the car over, and you:

• Exit the car, and thank him for taking you this far.
• can't believe it, but suddenly stutter "Can I - can I make it up to you some other way?"
