TT: V Give up

From Create Your Own Story

You sit in one of the back pews and stare back at Walfreid. You know you can’t get out, but you’re not going to give in.

“You’re sure you won’t reconsider?” You ask him. “It’s not too late to let me out.”

He smirks at you. “Absolutely not.”

Tediously, the night wears on. At some point, you fall asleep. At another point, you wake. You’re hungry. You haven’t eaten since noon yesterday. You could use some water, too.

The day wears on in increasing misery, and you lose proper track of time. Your stomach’s growling something awful, and it makes it hard to rest. You develop a headache, and when you move too quickly, your vision blurs. Your throat feels on fire. You’d do anything for a drink.

“Anysink?”

You simply close your eyes. Walfreid has been probing your mind off and on for the last several hours, but you don’t have the will to keep him out anymore.

“It’s just an expression.” You murmer.

When you open your eyes again, he’s only a few feet away. The look he gives you could be concern, or intense concentration. “Stay back.” You croak.

You close your eyes again. This time, you plunge instantly into a vivid dream. You’re standing on the edge of a rushing river, and you desperately desire to drink from it. You approach the river and kneel down, but just before your lips touch the sparkling water, you’re yanked back by the neck. More precisely, you’re yanked back by the necklace. You rub the spot the chain dug into and lean back toward the water. You’re pulled back even more forcefully. This time, when you raise your hand to the wound, you touch blood. It cut into your skin! Your attention is quickly captured by the water again. You need it so!

You can’t take a drink with this necklace hindering you, though. It might strangle you next time. You tug the silver crucifix over your neck, and you throw it as far as you can. You kneel to the stream and drink deep. The water does not satisfy your thirst.

Sudden pain snaps you back to reality. There are two fangs sunk into your neck. Though you’re again aware, you’re still deeply under Walfreid’s influence, and you can’t even struggle. You die.
