You poke the dead man with you rapier to ensure the thing is completely dead and will not rise to attack you again. As you do a puff of yellow-green gas escapes from its torso. You pull you cloak to your face trying to avoid breathing it in, but you are not quite fast enough.
The gas smells of brimstone and rotted death as you choke upon it uncontrollably. Your eyes water and you feel your knees begin to buckle as your strength is sapped. Where lesser men would have collapsed you endure. The feeling passes, and you regain your strength.
Finished with the zombie, you walk back into the center of the colony and locate the inn.
