Man, these guys don't fuck around. The Alphenian Empire is a theocracy in the same sense that a tidal wave is water. Every citizen is expected to spend every waking second thanking their god emperor for another moment of life under his totalitarian dictatorship. All dissent is crushed, quite literally, within moments of arising. The empire formed from the ashes of the ancient United Nations Coalition, and in the last four hundred years the Alphenians seem to have reached their limit. Star systems are slipping through their fingers, albeit slowly, as the Reapers and corporations begin to take back the stars.
Still, in this corner of the universe, the Alphenian Empire is still the power, and it is still righteous fury embodied. The station's holy police keep the area nearly crime free, with most felonies punishable by purging via holy fire. The people toil under their leader's command, working most hours of the day with only a handful of holy days in which they are allowed to miss a few hours of work. Normally it's impossible to find work in these sectors, but to a few clever pilots this tyranny reeks of opportunity.
