"Sorry, kid," she says, "but you wouldn't be any safer there. Professor Oak has been studying past mating seasons, and it's usually an isolated event, limited to just a few routes in one region, but every few hundred years, there's a global outbreak that effects nearly every pokemon on the planet."
"And there's nothing we can do?" you ask.
"Well, Professor Birch thinks that a strong trainer with a very close bond with their pokemon could be able to calm the aroused pokemon. He has a theory that it's pheromones that are driving the pokemon insane with lust, and the pokemon of a strong trainer, one who truly feels loved by their trainer, will produce calming pheromones. Any pokemon exposed to those pheromones will in turn produce more, and it will spread faster than pokerus in a crowded subway car."
"So who is the strongest trainer in the world?" you ask. "The Champion?"
"Professor Elm thinks so, but no one has seen the Champion since he was declared innocent in that cheating scandal. He couldn't take the media and he and his pokemon vanished. It's said that he'll only come back if someone can beat the Elite Four to challenge his title, but so far, no one has been able."
"Well, somebody needs to!" you exclaim. "This has to be stopped!"
Suddenly, you hear a scream from outside.
