"Actually when we spoke..." you say delicately. "...William made it known to me he wished me to be at his bedside and tend to him during his illness. He believes I can be beneficial to his recovery..."
Nigel's eyes flash a little, some of his old fire flickering in his sunken eyes. "And you don't consider that maybe my son has ulterior motives for you being at his bedside?" He says with a taste of venom.
It takes you a moment to discern his meaning, making you blush hotly at his implication. Even now Lord Kellar still has the ability to make you feel like a child; much like your father did...
"Nigel!" hissed his wife, giving him a deadly eye, making Kellar regain some of his composure.
"I apologize Anastasia..." he mutters, sincerely. "As you can see this is a house of shadows now, even my chivalry has flown from these halls. Of course I will honor William's wishes, and let the staff know to bring you anything you might need to serve his purposes." Despite his humbleness you can tell that Lord Kellar is still unhappy with your position; and you think it isn't because of any lusty ambitions on the part of his son; rather fears he doesn't wish to acknowledge he has.
The meal is finished in silence, after which you retire, your sleep disturbed by rooms with creeping shadows and the baying of a specter wolf...
