Sir Witte, the newly appointed Crown Governor of Hong Kong, was scheduled to leave for the orient to assume his post, but was instead found dead in his bedchamber yesterday at approximately 10:30 pm. Reports from the Yard indicate that foul play is suspected, however no further information has been officially released besides the fact that the cause of death is entirely unknown. An inside source, who wishes to remain anonymous, has told the Times that police are focusing their investigation on a dockside bar in the Chinese district, known locally as 'Singapore Charlie's', which the late Sir Witte visited the morning prior to his demise."
