"Well, I'm glad to hear you made it in!" you say, trying to undo the awkwardness. "Made any friends yet?"
"Well, no," says Chase, "but it's only the first day."
"Right. Any of your old friends here?"
He shakes his head. "Brand new start for me ... except that I know you and Mike, of course."
Silence. It's awkward again.
"Of course, knowing him, he's already banging two chicks," he says unabashedly.
You laugh. That's Michael, all right. A ladies' man if ever there was one. Chase nods in agreement to this.
"You probably won't have much trouble with that either," you say. "After all ..."
