"Oh, nothing," you tell Lindsay, not sure that you want to get her involved in this problem.
"Okay, suit yourself Miranda," Lindsay replies, "but I might be able to help with whatever is going on."
You chat for another few minutes before arriving at your apartment. You eat a quiet dinner and go to bed early. You lie in bed for a while thinking about how to solve your problem before you finally drift off to sleep without coming up with a solution.
The next morning, as you and Lindsay drive to work, Lindsay asks again if she can help you. Again, you say no. About an hour after you get to work, two police officers come storming onto the floor where you work and run up to your cubicle.
"Miranda Johnson," one of the police officers says, "You are under arrest for embezzling. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." The police officer quickly grabs you and handcuffs you. The other police officer grabs your arm and starts to lead you out of the office as all of your co-workers watch. You are humiliated and scared.
The police officers take you to the police station where you try to tell them that the whole thing is a mistake and where they take your fingerprints and offer you one phone call.
