Follow the Constable

You decide that the colonist must have had a good reason for their actions and they are none of your business. You follow the constable to his cottage near the colony's jail. The jail is one of the few buildings that you saw that was constructed out of stone. The other being the lighthouse and the church was built on a stone foundation.

Constable Grimmin's cottage reeks of wine and human filth as you step inside. The house is large enough for a family. Thrown about the place are you guess are the constable's things as well as possessions of both a woman and child. Yet, there is no sign of either a woman nor child living their any longer.

"You would do well to leave this place, stranger." Grimmin states grimly as he takes a swig from a wine bottle before offering it to you. "Marais d'Tarason and all her colonists are doomed. Stay and you will be doomed as well."

You start to ask how the place is doomed only to find the constable passed out. You help the battered man to his bed before leaving. You leave quietly closing the door behind you. You discover that the fog has let up some but the day continues to be gray and gloomy. The first building you notice is the colony's public house and inn.
