You don't want to waste time making shoes out of leaves. Leaves probably won't offer much protection anyway. You trek into the woods, searching for any signs of human habitation. You feel a slight stinging sensation in your right foot, but you ignore it and continue. The stinging increases to become painful and your left foot starts to sting too. Looking down, you realize that you are walking over a line of leaf-cutter ants. You quickly brush the ants off your feet and walk cautiously on.
The sun droops lower in the sky and your stomach grumbles hungrily. A banana palm tree stretches above you, the first plant you have recognized as edible.
