You sit down at the table behind the plant. You've got Will in sight through the leaves of the plant. Will is sipping on a coke, hopefully without alcohol. His cell sends him a notification, you can hear the sound over the commentator. Will looks around, then stands up. Damn, he is coming towards you. Your own cell vibrates, and now you know what alerted Will. The dating app notified you that someone else using the app - Will - is nearby. You put your cell back in your purse and pretend to be studying the menu. Just in time.
"Oh, hey mom."
You look up. "Hi, Will." You give your voice a surprised touch. "I didn't know you were here. Shall I go somewhere else?"
He takes a quick look around to check for a woman with blonde hair who is nowhere in sight. "No, mom, I, er, was about to leave just now anyway. Bye."
"Bye, dear."
Will empties his glass and leaves, probably looking for the blonde who he thinks must have walked past the bar close enough to trigger the app alert. You wait for a minute and then set your profile to private again. Poor Will, but he should have plenty of other opportunities.
The encounter means that, for today, you can't follow Will any further. He may be a bit naive, but even he is not going to believe you'll run into him by chance twice. You take a cosy drink and then return to your cabin.
