"Don't do that, Cate," you say. "Don't flip-flop on me, clearly there is something bothering you. Can you please talk to me now so that we don't have to stay up all night while you make up your mind?"
"I told you it's nothing."
You sit up. "Why did you bring it up two times, then?"
"I didn't. That were two completely different things I wanted to ask you. But that can wait."
"Why don't we just get it over with?"
"Geez, Jules, just let it go. Didn't you want to sleep? Don't get worked up, and don't blame me if you do and find sleep."
You shake your head. Of course you could now start to argue with Cate, but what good would it bring? The both of you will have to work together to stay alive, and you don't have the luxury to go separate ways for a while after a fight. You lie back down, still slightly angered. Somehow the anger distracts you from the dire situation you are in, and in no time, you drift away.
