"We could head to the police station," you say quietly, surveying the world going to shit around you. "But if this is any indication, it's probably not going to look a lot better."
"Maybe we should arm ourselves. There's that sporting goods place along the highway. They have guns there, don't they?" Melanie asks, the horror in her face evident as she stares out the window at the scene outside the car. She reaches up and points to the neighbor's house. "Look," she says.
You peer out and see now that two people are kicking at the door. Inside, a flashlight beam scurries back and forth. Your neighbors, the Parks, are a quiet family with two children who are now in certain trouble.
"Fuck," you whisper quietly, trying to sort out what you should do.
