You stand at the rear of the Mighty Nein, ready to attack anything that may try to come through the dark portal before you. To your right is Jester, who has her head bowed and her eyes squeezed shut as she mutters prayers to the Traveller for his help to shut this gateway to the Abyss. The rest of the team are busy fighting a group of demons on the other side of the chamber.
Despite your torn loyalties between the Cobalt Soul and The Bright Queen, the promise of rare magical items was all the incentive that you and the rest of the team needed to travel to the most recent sighting of these portals.
Luck seems to be on your side, as the demons that had emerged from the portal this time were only weak lesser demons. Fjord sent two Eldritch Blasts at the one of them, easily dispatching it. This would be over in no time.
The portal begins to sputter and warp as Jester’s spell begins to take hold. Behind you, you hear Caleb cry out in pain and the sound of flesh being pieced by something sharp. Your job is to keep an eye on Jester and the portal, but if your friends are in trouble, you need to know don’t you?
