Coming Out: Tell Her You Can't

From Create Your Own Story

You frown as you notice Janet looking dejected. The rest of the bar is quite silent so you definitely want to avoid a scene as much as possible. Something about her makes you sense that she might be a crier - best to just lay it out for her gently. Her eyes are going all over the place, staring at you, to the tall glass of vodka on the ledge, to the exit door. You sigh.

"I-I must have misunderstood, Luke. But - I have done everything right this evening. I took the initiative and met you in the middle of some bar because a friend said you'd like some company. I bought you two drinks. I even complimented how good you looked. Why does this always happen to me? How come I can't get any man's attention?"

You look at her and swallow down a huge load of your pride. You're going to tell Janet something you've never told anyone before: not Maxwell, not your parents, not your family, not the rest of your friends, no one. You weren't going to totally ruin her night like this.

"Janet, let me explain."
