You hear the door unlock, and it begins to swing open slowly. Suddenly the door gets yanked open, and a tall thing woman dashes out with what looks to be a machete, swinging wildly as she screams. You pull the trigger. The boom echoes through the church, rattling it's windows, and the gunfire lights up the room like a firework. The shot catches the woman in the chest, piercing into her and through her, and spattering the wall beside the door with blood, thick strings of meat and sinew, and tiny bits of bone. Her body is catapulted backwards against the gore, slapping against the wet wall before she tumbles to the floor, dropping her weapon.
Quickly you step inside the room, and find that there's no one else inside. Just a small bed, two duffel bags on the floor, and a small lantern sitting on an end table. You push open the duffel bag with the barrel of the gun carefully, and notice that one is stuffed full of canned goods, and the other contains small bottles of water. When you step back out, Claire is standing over the girl, shining the flashlight on her face.
"She wasn't sick," she says quietly. "Why would she attack?"
"Scared maybe," you say, trying not to stare into the dead girls accusing eyes. "Probably figured we were up to no good. I don't know, but I couldn't let her hurt us."
"I know," Claire says quietly. "It just sucks."
"It does." You say, trying not to let thoughts of guilt or murder or morals conundrums enter your mind.
You take Claire by the arm and head for the room, shutting the door and turning a deadbolt that latches the door shut. You lean the shotgun against the wall and claim two waters out of the duffel. "Here, take this." You pass one to Claire and nod towards the bed. "Sit. Relax. Catch your breath."
Claire pulls out of her rain slicker quickly and tosses it across the end table. She sits on the bed, places the flashlight at her side, and takes the water to drink it. In between sips, she stares at the door.
"What now?" She asks.
