Assassin/Day 1 - Keep waiting

From Create Your Own Story

For a moment, it's calmingly quiet apart from the distant traffic outside, until you sense a presence entering the room. It has to be an assassin, but you never knew about anyone that good. Perhaps there are even more secrets they have plotted against rogues. You still don't know his location while you hide silently behind a desk. Even though the assassin is good, you still notice him first. You take a quick, soundless sprint towards his back, and when he spins around to check, you're already above his head in a somersault, landing straight behind him to a crouch. He turns back your way, so you jump against his chest, pushing him over on the floor.

The assassin takes a blowpipe on his lips, but you can move freely enough on him to dodge the dart. Maybe he's not that good after all. You predict exactly where he's holding his spare darts, so you grab one and pinch it to his neck. He freezes in place and stops breathing. A small battle like this was easy enough to execute within the blind spots of the motion detectors, but when more assassins show up, it could get quite interesting. You still know you can do it. You're just that awesome.

You drag the body behind an office wall partition and take one last look at the positioning of everything in the room. After a while, you hear the faint cling of a grappling hook hitting the wall above the open window, and start distinguishing some irregular shadowplay on the walls near the stairwell entrance. Even though they're just shadows from reflected light, it alerts you of the incoming enemies. The grappling hook indicates some more heavily equipped assassins, most likely more than one of them, and you don't really want to take your chances against them right here.

You sprint towards an entrance to a hallway, intentionally letting them notice you, so you get to perform one of your favorite moves. Another assassin rushes after you from the stairwell right behind you, runs around the corner after you, not seeing your stationary high-jump that you took straight after disappearing through the door. He runs directly below you while you reach your high point near the ceiling, and then drop down a few steps behind his back. He keeps running and disappears behind another corner.

You estimate the locations of the heavily armed assassins in the office, most likely taking some other route to block your way, so you storm back in there and with a leap over the wall partitions to avoid triggering the alarms, you end up directly behind one of the assassins holding a silenced submachine gun. But instead of using the gun, you grab his knife from his holster and slice open his throat. Even though the gun is silenced, any assassin could easily hear it and pinpoint its location.
