Arcade Adventure/Hermaphrodite/Start 30-20-10

From Create Your Own Story

After having been electrocuted, our intrepid hero (that's you) finds herself standing in what looks like a train terminal. Except there are no trains. Instead of trains there are a bunch of open arches with slots over them that look like nothing more than they do a power outlet. over each of the "outlets" is the title of a game. There is Fix-it Felix, Jr, there is Sugar Rush, there is Hero's Duty, and over there . . .

"Hold on," says a translucent blue figure that looks like a security cop . . . only animated? "Random security check. What is your name?"

"Taylor," you say, a bit confused.

"What game are you coming from?" he asks.

"Umm, game . . . I was trying to play-"

"Play. Play!" he laughs, "What, do you think you're a Gamer or something?"

"Yes," you resond, "is that a problem? It's just I was pretty sure I just got elec-"

The little security man starts running up and down the station, blowing on a whistle and screaming at the top of his lungs (if he even has lungs), "Warning! Warning! All game sprites. This is a code User. I repeat, CODE USER. This is not a drill!"

"Excuse me," you ask, "Could you just tell me-"

"Warning! Warning! All game sprites. This is a code User. I repeat, CODE USER. This is not a drill!"

"Umm, yes . . . I just wanted to know-"

"Warning! Warning! All game sprites. This is a code User. I repeat, CODE USER. This is not a drill!"

"Would you stop that and talk to me, Damnit!" you yell as you grab him by the collar.

"Oh," he replies, "sorry about that my lady Gamer. Please don't delete my code."

You are about to ask the guard a question when you notice game characters coming out of the Outlets. There's Chun Li from Street Fighter . . . and Luigi from Mario Brothers . . . is that Dr. Eggman from Sonic. In your state of profound amazement you put the security guard guy down.

"Where am I?" you ask in a daze.

"This is Game Central Station, you High Gamerness," says the man as a crowd of game characters assemble around you. They seem as surprised and curious about you as you are about them. "I am Surge Protector, I maintain order around here."

"Okay Surge," you say, "and all of these outlets, they lead to . . . where."

"To all the games in the arcade of course, Mighty Master of Games."

"Taylor will do fine, Surge," you reply. "So I can go into the actual games; into the game worlds themselves . . . with my own flesh and blood?"

"Well, Master Taylor," he says, "not precisely. You don't have flesh and blood anymore . . . just code. B-b-but it is the most amazing code I have ever seen! With code like that you could probably get stronger . . . even pick up new abilities."

"Really, new abilities you say?"

"Yes, but it is likely they would only last while you were in the game world. (After all this is a story and not a game where I have variables to mess around with --Elerneron). But the improvements to your base code should stick. No problem there. It's just . . ."

"What?"

"I don't think you could take anything out of the game worlds (no variables --Elerneron) . . . sorry."

"I think I can deal with that."

"Well then," says Surge with a wave of his hand, "Welcome to Game Central Station!" He then begins to shoo the game sprites back to their respective games.

You've made it to Game Central Station!
