To be fair, there are no true archetypes for anime characters. Any medium in storytelling has its own stereotypes, but if you disregard the tired cliches, anime characters are no less unique than any animated characters. So when you say you want to create 'anime characters', you might as well be creating anyone.
That being said, tropes are not bad, and some familiarity can help you set down a proper foundation for this empty space more easily. So let's start simple. Think about your favorite anime.
Come on now. In your infinite time spent as God, you're telling me you chose to populate the Earth with anime characters, but has no favorites in your entire filthy weeaboo existence?
