The daddy chuckles. “Didn’t mean to scare you, boy.” He leans back against the hallway wall. “You get yourself a drink, and maybe you come back and talk to me after, how about that?”
You move on to the bar, and leave him there. But you can feel the daddy's eyes on you all the way there.
Passing through the tables, which are starting to fill up, you also see a guy who looks like he could have been the model from the ad for this place – a real bear type, with chest hair peeking out from his open-collared shirt, thick arms, wide shoulders, and just enough of a belly to give him heft. He’s got brown hair, a beard, and when he catches you checking him out, he raises his beer to you.
When you get to the bar, the bartender finishes with another customer, and comes over to you. He’s Italian, you think, or maybe Portuguese, with tattoos around both impressive biceps, and a great smile.
“What can I get you?” he asks.
