One look in your eyes tells him you won't take no for an answer.
"You're a madman," he mutters, sweating like a pig, but he scrambles over to the glass-enclosed control chamber on the other side of the room.
"Punching up the lexicon!" He yells, over the sonic shriek that's suddenly started to build, and the bulletproof test chamber door slams and locks down the room.
"You're a good man, Higgs!" You yell up to him, and then jerk back as every bit of paper in the room suddenly sets alight.
"It's heading to Overdrive mode now, Watts!" He screams, barely audible over the crackle of the building inferno. "I can't keep the pressure at optimal much longer- you're either getting out through that portal or in a bodybag!"
Arcs of lightning crackle across every square inch of the room, your hair standing up on end. You run towards the portal, time and space distorting around you.
"Unlocking the ripper drive!" you hear behind you, Higgs' voice stretched out like a peice of taffy. Closing your fire-racked eyes, you leap towards the portal, ears ringing.
"A new world." you whisper.
