History
Origination
The title was introduced at HGEW's first live show, in the opening contenst. Chris Turner became the first champion, defending the belt again that night. Turner went on to defend the belt every night of Summer 2008 in a variety of matches. Initially, it was the only championship in HGEW, so the champion was held in the highest regard.
Championship Activity
Nile Robbins won the inaugural Gladiator's Bout match to become the new champion. He then went on to defend the belt twice more at HGEW Live shows before being defeated by Hardcore Hudson. Hudson became a slack champion, only defending the championship when necessary. Payne called out Hudson on his ways and challenged him to a match. Hudson attacks Payne with a baseball bat to retain via DQ and Hudson established himself as the major heel. Hudson also promoted the championship in another local promotion. HGEW went in to a major hiatus on January 1st 2009, with a short break of hiatus for a one-off show, resulting in JKH becoming the champion for only one day. Hiatus was finally broken on February 21st, where Alex Page defeated Zack Arius to become the champion. This match was regarded as the corner-stone for HGEW as they entered in to a new era. Page then stole the championship and began defending it across minor promotions throughout Scotland. HGEW was forced to go on to another year long hiatus, which ended on July 23rd, where Alex Page returned with the belt.
