• At Midtown High, Peter is interrupted from studying in the library by Mary Jane. She shows him a news broadcast where a super-villain in a mechanical humanoid rhino suit is attacking a bank in the city. The villain is head-butting cars at the police and bullets seem to have no effect on him. Mary Jane tells Peter to “go get him”. Peter tells her to cover hor him during his class and starts to run out of the building.

Peter gets his costume out of his school locker and then runs into his Aunt May who is entering the school. She tells him that she has a teacher/parent meeting with Mr. Depalma, Peter’s math teacher. Mr. Depalma meets them in the hallway and asks both of them to come to his classroom.

• Mr. Depalma explains to May that Peter has been seeming distracted in class and he is concerned that this will lead to academic problems. During this conversation, Peters keeps staring out the window, he eventually excuses himself, saying that he is supposed to be helping a foreign exchange student.

Peter attempts to leave the school again, and runs into the principal and a security guard. He flees from both of them.

Peter then slips out the back doors of the cafeteria. He encounters Gwen Stacy, who is sitting in the school trash pile and crying. She tells Peter that she overheard her mom talking on the phone to one of her friends and that she is leaving Gwen’s dad. Gwen says her mother hates her. Peter tells Gwen he wants to talk with her about this but he has to be somewhere, he tells her he will find her after school. On his way out across the lawn, MJ sees Peter from a window and yells at him. She tells him that the R.H.I.N.O. tossed a bus into a Starbucks. Peter tells MJ that Gwen is crying in a dumpster and for MJ to go find her.

Peter then gets hit in the head with a football by Flash Thompson. Peter picks up the ball and throws in on top of the school’s roof. He is then chased by the football team. Peter evades them by climbing the school unnoticed and changing into his Spider-Man outfit.

Peter makes his way into the city to fight the R.H.I.N.O. He arrives on the scene to find that Iron Man has arrived and taken care of the threat already.

Notes:

- The news reporters refer to Iron Man as “The invincible Iron Man” and “our golden knight in shining armor”.
