Age: 28

Height: 6'1"

[edit] Personality

Typical of Banner Knights, Mikael Scharan is zealous and ferocious in all aspects of life, and like many young men, he has a sense of humor that manifests itself when it often shouldn't. Despite the fact that he outranks virtually everyone save Verald and the King, he is often described as impudent, because of his sarcastic and casual manner, a manner which offends many of the older knights. He jokes with everyone, regardless of their rank, and is much beloved by his soldiers for his casual manner. He has even played several pranks on the King, who he sees as a second father. Mikael is brilliantly intelligent, in fact, he is something of a tactical prodigy, and is regarded as one of the most unforgivingly vicious and creative tacticians the continent over. His penchant for jokes often leads him to taunting his opponents, or turning a maneuver that the enemy commander has to think is a joke into the main assault.

Mikael is sentimental and cares deeply for Ainor, his faith, and his family, and quickly grows angry at an insult to any. He is almost perpetually happy apart from that short fuse on his temper, and laughs more than he talks, so with the two combined, his mouth is in constant motion.

[edit] Appearance

Mikael is tall and a little heavier than average for his height, although he is muscular and well toned. Mikael is a typical Carulon Ainori, with his darker skin, eyes, and hair than the Dessaun or Carean Ainori to the north and east. He smiles almost constantly, a result of his perpetual good mood, and even when in combat, Mikael is laughing. He usually wears dark coats and breeches with thick cavalry boots, with the tabard of House Scharan on top of all of it. He wears his engagement ring all of the time, even when sleeping and under his gauntlets when fighting. When in combat, Mikael wears breast and back plates, as well as pauldrons, rerebraces, couters, and vambraces on his arms, as well as finger-style gauntlets on his hands. Tassets guard his hips and upper thighs, although he has chosen not to wear Cuisses, instead, he wears chain mail that is tucked into his poleyns, greaves, and sabatons. His armor is lacquered red and dark green, the color of Ainor and his House, respectively. He rarely wears a helmet, as he lets his troops see his face to know that their commander is still alive, instead, he wears a wide brimmed dark green hat with a metal ring sown into the brim and a metal skull cap on top.

The flag he wears on his backplate is a red rose behind a red dragon, rampant, all on a field of dark green. House Scharan's motto is "Right brings Might" and adorns a scroll at the bottom of his banner.

Mikael is somewhat handsome, although he is not extremely so. He appeals mostly to women who think charming rogues are the pinnacle of handsomeness, and strangely, to Lequallians.

[edit] Weapons

Mandaragal

  • Prf-Sword
  • Beastslayer Broadblade Double Fuller Enchanted(Close Ranged Holy Light) Enhancing(Skill) Keen Edged Mithril Perfectly Balanced Long Sword
  • Mandaragal is built like a typical Ainori broadsword, with a triple fuller at the hilt that melds into a double at the middle of the blade. The hilt is mithril, and braided, ending with a loop at both sides. The hilt is boar hide, with a large mithril sphere for a pommel. A small prayer dedicating the weapon to Aodeyn is engraved onto the blade, and the letters grow golden when the weapon is in use. Mandaragal's enchantment is worthless at range, with the blessed energies of the blade only acting upon one struck in melee. When fighting truly evil enemies, Mandaragal seems to burst into golden flames. The enchantment laid upon Mandaragal also increases the natural accuracy of the weapon. Like a typical Ainori broadsword, Mandaragal has room for two hands on the hilt, although only one hand is needed to wield it. The blade is about three feet long, with the hilt about seven inches, and the pommel adding yet another inch to the weapon's overall length.

Aibar

  • B Axe
  • Back Spike Keen Edged Mithril Polearm Batleaxe
  • Aibar is Mikael's main mounted weapon, because of his hopeless lancing and his decent axe fighting, and the reach that Aibar affords. It has a mithril reinforced haft, and a large backspike, slightly curved, which allows him to pull targets out of their saddles in the middle of combat. He uses Aibar more often than he uses Mandaragal, due to the fact that most mounted combat calls for lances and other polearms, and not a sword.
