Maryna is a girl with a very innocent look about her. She has greenish hair and lovely blue eyes which add to her innocent look. Her face is a smooth flowing surface, her eyes deep like ponds of water.
She always wears a blue, white or green dress, in battle with the leather armor of Tavrica over it and a tiara in her hair signifying her noble birth. Most of the time she is accompanied by her gryphon mount, Thoeric, a smaller gryphon but nevertheless mighty.

Maryna Earlene Tanear was born as the eldest of the twin daughters of Duke Tyrone Tanear of Schlossburg and his wife Deirdre, Maryna Tanear and Lyddia Tanear, by a few seconds. Destined for leadership by that few seconds, Maryna has studied to become the next Duchess of Schlossburg while Lyddia was learning the skills of the hunt and the wood. She could read at the incredibly young age of 5 years old, and write at 7, from studying with her Father's Chancellor, Gwydion Talies, at the Tanear Mansion in Schlossburg. Seeing her potential, the then-Archduke invited her father to send her to Dainor for learning and training with her new-found Gryphon, Thoeric. Never one to refuse such an offer from the Archduke, Duke Tyrone sent his daughter to Schlossburg.
During that time, Maryna met Xanthus Ruroki, son of a general, the later High Duke of the Eastern Marches, a blond-haired boy whom she became staunch friends with, and later on she even fell in love with him. Her attitude of staying away from class having earned her a few reprimands from her teachers, Maryna decided to learn on, and her learning continued. At 14, she became a diplomatic aid to the High Ambassador, Tavrica's minister of foreign affairs. At 15, she was forced to abandon this position as her father had been assassinated by a man hired by Archduke Aester Saenry, who was soon deposed by Cayel Reldin. At the incredibly young age of 15, she became the youngest Tavrican Duke in existence.
Her star kept rising. For valor in battle and skill at diplomacy, Maryna Tanear was appointed High Duchess of the Western Marches at 16 years of age following the retirement of High Duke Mikael Freelance.

The lineage of the House of Tanear goes back to the hero Tane, who married Lady Lysa of Caelin and was one of the tenants-in-chief of Duke Tavric of Tefelnia, one of the founders of Tavrica. The crest of House Tanear is a Gryphon flying past a white tower, brown on green. The motto of House Tanear is We soar without borders
The Lineage of the House of Tanear can be ordered by its two most recent noble siblings in power, being the twin sisters Maryna and Lyddia Tanear.
