[edit] Appearance & Personality

James is cold, cruel, and confident. He enjoys killing, and will kill anything and anyone that gets in his way - from the screaming, innocent child, to the strong man who fights with valour. He kills them all, letting their blood gush freely. He is brutal in his attacks; he lets the blood of his victims and enemies splash all over him. His former values never come into play. In fact, he despises them; chivalry above all. He will kill a defenseless man, woman, or child, and do sick things to the body, such as chopping it to pieces or trampling it with his horse. To him, his honour and respect are gained through his slaughters, and the more he kills, the stronger he becomes. He loves using his Rune Sword to leech life, causing a slow, agonising death, and his bow to maim and cause injury. This satisfies him.

A former church-going Eliminist of Ainor, he now follows no set religion, believing there is no such thing as "god" or "the gods". He believes fate is made, and any "miracles" are mere coincidence. Instead, he is an uncaring, merely letting his creations run about, governing themselves. He doesn’t care if they are killed or suffer or fight, he just doesn’t deal with them. With no need for forgiveness, he fights with a fury of a vengeance, letting his passion run out of his sword.

His hatred for his homecountry runs deep, he’d do anything to avenge the throne that was taken from him, even if he doesn’t care if he has it now. He wants Meinhard's death to be at his hands.

At James' side is his beloved Mithril Sword, his favourite weapon of all, and he carries it with him at all times. He wears red-and-black armour, under a dark red cape pinned by a small black pin. Upon his head is a helmet, designed to look like a dragon, or a fierce hawt and thus appear menacing and dangerous. It is black and red, and covers a majourity of his face. He has a red goatee and a moustache and an almost expressionless mouth. He rides a black horse of Ainori origin. Its eyes are dark and beady, and its main long and untamed. Upon its back, James has placed a long red blanket lined with black. On top of this is James’ saddle. When his helmet is lifted, one finds a handsome middle-aged man, with short but messy hair and brown eyes.

Born the son of James and Gretchen von Reichter, James was much-younger brother of the king-to-be, Meinhard von Reichter. As sons of the king, they were trained well, and they fought for Ainor with their father. He was always envious of his brother. He never truly liked him. He wanted to be king himself. He wanted the power for himself. He obsessed over it, and of course, James chose Meinhard to ascend the throne, because of age, and also because he seemed to be more suitable for the throne. Arana Borataeux married Meinhard and the two had a daughter named Anastasia. By that time, Meinhard was the Prince of Ainor. He was known for being a skilled tactician and a chivalrous, honourable knight who represented the interests of the Church of St. Elimine and the people. And then when the late king died of a stroke, James’ brother ascended the throne. He was greatly-loved by his people, and he gave James his old position as Knight Commander.

James had a wife, but was unfaithful to her. He didn’t love her; it had been arranged so that he’d look honourable. But he loved the queen, and she seemed to love him. The two slept with each other, and she grew pregnant with his child. James realised that he was second in line for the throne, and plotted to kill Meinhard. What he didn’t know was that his brother had been watching him closely, and knew what he was planning to do. He had James hung, and on that night, as he hung there in great pain on the verge of death, he was given a vision. A dark god visited him, and told him of his future, telling him the way to greatness and power. He replaced his light magic with powerful dark magic, for James had been a Grail Knight. He promised him that he would have enough power to change the balance of power on the continent. The dark god helped him survive the hanging, even letting him down and putting an illusory copy of James in the noose. He escaped to Artal in a disguise.

When he escaped, James didn't care about the Ainori throne; rather, he wanted the chance to ruthlessly slaughter whole villages, so he decided to create a group called the Dark Brotherhood, on the hopes that someday, he could take revenge on his brother, and could spill blood ruthlessly.
