[edit] Appearance & Personality
Alexius is an old, wizened man. Once he was a famed pyromancer. Now he spends his days warming his chilled bones by tending the Everlasting Flame that resides within the innermost chamber of Helios. His hair is pure white - what is left of it - and his beard is long and smooth. His eyes are soft and kind, and he walks hesitantly with the aid of a staff with a great ruby embedded in it. His voice is quiet, a tenor. His eyes are coal black, and always twinkling. He is wise beyond measure. He speaks with an accent long since forgotten, as is the custom of the Firekeeper.

Since birth, Alexius has been raised to become the Firekeeper, studying under the finest Pyromancers, Sages, and Elementalists of Elibe. At the age of ten, he was taken in under his predecessor's wing, that of his uncle Methrios Xoriol. He had various flings with the village girls, but none ever got anywhere. At the age of twenty, Methrios died and Alexius assumed his role.
Alexius is the Firekeeper, the one man who was allowed to kindle and protect the flame kept ever burning deep in the heart of Helios. If the Emperor was the embodiment of the Phoenix, then it was the Firekeeper that revived the bird from its ashes again and again. Even the Emperor himself is not allowed to touch the Holy Fire, the Everlasting Flame.
