A tendency to get stuck into anything and protect everyone else.
History
Ian was a chemistry teacher at Coal Hill School until Barbara convinced him to investigate Susan, one of their pupils. They ended up in the TARDIS, travelling through time and space and occasionally ending up somewhere near home, but never quite close enough.
Additional Information
His skills include ability to use the Vulcan nerve pinch before they ever thought of it, making fire by rubbing two sticks together, sword fighting and looking good in a skirt. Is quite touchy feely.

- Has a secret penchant for dressing up in women's clothing.
- His father died in the Second World War. Ian spent a year off school just after, trying to look after the family, keep up his studies and occasionally getting into trouble.
- His mother re-married just before Ian went to university. He doesn't really get on with his step-father, but does with his younger half-sister. His younger sister he doesn't really see very much because she married and moved to Scotland.
- Is quite a good cook.
