Basic Character Information

Alternative Universe

Adric joined the Doctor and Romana after a fight with Marsh Men on Adric's homeworld of Alzarius. The Doctor has fixed the Starliner, the ship Adric's people need to take them offworld, and Adric is invited to travel with the Doctor instead; he readily accepts.

The Doctor and Adric become fast friends, which slightly alienates Romana. The Doctor talks of taking Adric to Gallifrey, which Romana does not want to do. When they finally figure a way to escape E-Space, Romana decides to stay behind. The Doctor and Adric visit Gallifrey together, and spend several weeks there, developing a close relationship that seems to only grow stronger the more the other Time Lords look down upon them. Instead of enrolling in the Academy, however, Adric and the Doctor decide some practical learning is in order, and they go traveling again.

They visit Earth, the Doctor's favorite planet, several times before ending up on Traken, where they encounter Nyssa and the Master. This leads them to Earth, where they pick up Tegan, and on to Logopolis, where the Doctor falls to his untimely death from a radio tower.

Once regenerated, things become somewhat awkward for the Doctor and Adric. Tegan is dominating and controlling and untrusting of Adric. In his newly regenerated state, the Doctor does not do all he can to assert Adric's place in the TARDIS. For a time, things are very strained while they deal with the Master. In time, Adric confronts the Doctor about the way things have changed, and the Doctor fesses up--that he's been out of order acting the way he has. He doesn't tell Tegan to cool down, but he does return affection for Adric again. Through this simple change of attitude, Tegan seems to realize Adric is important to the Doctor, and therefore not such a bad character after all. Things go on much more amiably from there.

When the Doctor and friends encounter the Cybermen attempting to crash a freigher into the world leaders on a futuristic Earth, Adric intervenes. Though the controls on the crashing freighter are destroyed and his calucations no longer viable, the Doctor breaks every Time Law, and brings the TARDIS to the freighter and rescues Adric. The result on Earth is somewhat catastrophic for the evolution of the planet--a butterfly effect that brings about the extinction of not only the dinosaurs, but descendants which would have evolved, eventually into horses. Without such beasts of burden available throughout history, the technological advancement of humans is considerably stunted, and other modes of transportation become more reliable. Aircraft is developed as early as the 16th century, and by the 1800s is a fairly common mode of transportation.

Having lived through the ripple effect, none on board the TARDIS are aware of the change; for them, it has always been that way.

Shortly after this, they are joined by Turlough, who wishes to kill the Doctor. Nyssa decides it's a good time to leave, and does so soon after his arrival. Tegan and Adric realize Turlough is plotting to kill the Doctor (though the Doctor doesn't seem to be aware of this fact), and decide to work together to get rid of Turlough. This was accomplished when the TARDIS landed on another planet and Adric and Tegan were able to tie Turlough up and leave him in the city. Later, they convinced the Doctor that he had decided to stay on, and they left without him. Whether the Doctor knew of their attempts to "persuade" Turlough to stay, they never knew.

By then, the Doctor and Adric were in quite a relationship, which Tegan was feeling somewhat left out of. She stayed with them until they confronted the Daleks, controlled by a resurrected Davros, and then she decided to leave. The Doctor and Adric went on from there together, visiting the planet of Sarn, where they nearly got themselves killed. Unable to help the natives, the Doctor and Adric could only watch as the Master exploded a volcano, which destroyed all the inhabiants--and the Master himself (or so it seemed).

Adric and the Doctor barely escaped with their lives, and the TARDIS made an emergency landing, arriving on an Earth vacation spot in Lanzarote, where they unwittingly picked up Peri. Unlike Tegan, Peri was welcoming and accepting of the Doctor's relationship with Adric, and was eager to explore the universe with them as her guide. Unfortunately, their first trip out together resulted in all three of them being poisioned by a lethal plant. Adric's innate Alzarian healing abilities were able, after a very long and hard battle, to eject the poision and recover from the damage, but Peri and the Doctor weren't so lucky. When the Doctor gave up the antedote so that Peri could live, he regnerated.

The three continued to travel together after that, and the TARDIS seemed to somehow become more wild. The Doctor was unstable and erratic, acting implusively and sometimes recklessly. He began going to places that unnerved Adric, and laughing if Adric chose not to go along, or complained about the location.

It was on such a planet, where Adric couldn't step outside of the TARDIS due to severe allergic reactions to the local planetlife, that he lost his Doctor and Peri. His 12-7 appeared and, contacting another version of the Doctor, Adric took the TARDIS to the signal, and in doing so trapped himself in alternate universe, standing his Doctor with Peri on the strange planet far away.

Entry Point

Adric comes from a period in time somewhere before The Two Doctors, where he is traveling with the Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown.

Physical Description

Not very manly, but definitely no longer a boy, Adric has grown into the stature of a young man, about age 20. He has shaggy black hair, dark brown eyes and stands about 5'4". In general he wears casual Earth clothes these days, mostly button down shirts, jeans or black slacks and sometimes a black leather coat.

Personality

Adric is still very fond of maths, but he had managed to learn to socialize a little better than he did in his youth, thanks greatly to the help of the Doctor. Still, he can come off as a know-it-all, especially if he feels he is being slighted, or that his opponent is especially dim. He is still not very fond of most women, but does like girls all right.

History

Adric snuck on board the Doctor's TARDIS after the Doctor and Romana helped his people escape the Marsh Men by piloting the Starliner. He is from the parallel pocket dimension called E-Space, and though he once thought of returning there, has long since abandoned that universe as his home, and is content to live with just the Doctor.

While every other incarnation of Adric seems to have been killed on a freighter crashing into Earth, Adric's Doctor chose to break the Laws of Time to rescue him. He finds it hard to understand why other versions of the Doctor were unable to do this, but knows it is a point of contention, and tries not to press it very strongly.

He and his Doctor began flirting shortly after Romana left them, to stay behind in E-Space. Adric fell in love with his version of the Fourth Doctor. Though he had some difficulties adjusting when the Doctor regenerated, he soon grew quite fond of the "new version." When again the Doctor regenerated, they experienced similar difficulties, some of which never went away, causing a rift in their relationship that, while unwanted, was not devestating.
