Zerwagot, pronounced as zar-WA-got, is the name given to the provincial militia of the YOJIMA AUTONOMOUS PROVINCE of the fascistic nation of KARISTAN. The current structure of the Zerwagot is based upon the organization of the disbanded 17th Brigade of the KARISTANI military which was stationed in Yojima during the YOJIMA REBELLION of 2363. The provincial militia unit had been engaged in the riots which occurred between the Twagians and the non-Twagian population of Yojima. It had also been engaged in strengthening patrols over its borders and the defense of the province from the frequent incursions of the FAWZIAN military. The Zerwagot is organized into a Headquarters Company, at least 3 Regiments, a band platoon, an engineering company, a signals platoon, a military police company, and a brigade training unit. The Headquarters company administers the day to day operations of the militia, most orders are given by it to the regiment commanders. The Headquarters company is directly under the command of the Adjutant General and is the militia's highest body. The regiments are the main bulk of the militia's force, there are three regiments in the militia numbered as the 1st, 3rd and 4th regiments. The regiments are composed of a variety of soldier class, each regiment are assigned five tanks and at least a single artillery gun. The regiments are further divided into a regimental headquarters element and at least three infantry companies. The infantry companies are composed of a mixture of diffirent classes of soldiers. The band platoon is responsible for accompanying the various ceremonies of the militia including the flag ceremonies conducted every day at the military fort. The engineering company is in-charge of resupplying the various ground troops of the militia, they also take charge in caring for the sick and wounded soldiers, and also in erecting temporary camps and building permanent structures used by the militia. Typically the members of the engineering company are mostly professionals including doctors, engineers, and nurses. The signals platoon takes charge in coordinating the communication networks between the various units, the platoon also lays communication lines. The military police company is the uniformed law enforcement unit of the militia and whose jurisdiction covers the entire militia force. They apprehend and detain any militia soldier who had violated the military laws and other military statutes imposed and enacted by the province. On other times, the military police company also apprehend civilians and extend their jurisdiction to the civilian population if necessity should arise. The brigade training unit is responsible for the training of all the troops and had to make sure that all the troops are battle ready anytime the situation calls for the immediate mobilization of the militia troops. The unit is also responsible for the indoctrination of the militia and educate them in the military education, law, protocols, and hierarchy. The infantry companies of the regiments are further divided into at least five squads of no less than 20 members each. The squads are commanded by a squad leader who typically holds the rank of a 2nd Lieutenant with a Staff Sergeant or Sergeant as second in command. The Zerwagot has a different rank insignias than in the military of the KARISTAN. The rank insignias in the Zerwagot uses at least three rank indicators located of the shoulder strap, the collar, and the sleeve for ranks lower than that of a major and in the chest for those ranking above the rank of major. Because the Military Governor and the Ambassador are not members of the provincial militia they use the rank insignias of the KARISTANI military corresponding to their ranks. The provincial militia is also responsible for the protection of the residents of the province against any external and internal threats that may come from any groups. The current adjutant general of the provincial militia is COL. HAJURI IBR SAN DAJI. The hierarchy of the militia is organized in the same manner as in the Karistani military forces. The chain of command starts from the Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, Master Sergeant, Senior Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal, Lance Corporal, Private First Class, and Private. The militia is headquartered at the AMATOIA FORT which is just outside of the provincial capital HIETMOLDT. The provincial militia currently numbers around 2,000 militia members including their officers. The province imposes a universal conscription policy wherein all able bodied men and women are required to served the militia for no less than two and a half years after such time they may choose to continue serving or leave the service. The period of conscription is between 16 to 30 years old and compulsory age of retirement is 65 years old.
