Kathryn Marie was born on July 10, 2001 to Rebekah and Steven St. John at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Klatinoff Pavillion, despite the best laid schemes of her parents. By all accounts she should have been born some time in the early morning hours of July 9 at the Special Beginnings Birth Center in Annapolis, but things don't always go as planned. After an arduous 42 hour wait, Kathryn finally came into the world at 7 lbs., 11 oz., around 3 in the afternoon on the 10th.

Kathryn moved 3 weeks later from the east coast to Portland, Oregon, traveling by train. At the age of two and a half, she moved into a new house, and two months later, her sister, Julia, arrived. Just before her fifth birthday, the family moved across the country to central Florida. Kathryn survived all of these changes well, and has a reputation for being outgoing and friendly, displaying a social aptitude that her parents think proves that not everything is genetic.

Kathryn has a voracious appetite for books, and loves learning. Each morning she wakes up (dreadfully early) to find projects to work on, which are usually workbooks on phonics or writing, or crafts to complete. She is currently being home schooled by her mother, and has begun reading and writing. When asked what she would like to do in the future, her usual answers are to study the stars, dinosaurs, or to run a lemonade stand. She also enjoys working in the garden, playing with any other human being, going to playgrounds, and playing on the computer (sesamestreet.com and her dad's Tiger Woods golf are her favorites).
