Nash Latkje

From Desaiuniversity

Nash wielding Grosser Fluss
Nash comes from the Suikoden series. While he's a playable character in the third game, he's also the main character in a pair of text-based RPGs released only in Japan, called Suikogaiden. In these, he's 15 years younger and is looking for information about the True Runes. But his goals change once he learns that an old friend is out looking for him...

He's set shortly after the 2nd volume and is currently "hiding out" in Desai as a student in the local university.

Age: 22

[edit] Personality

Nash doesn't really act like the first-class citizen and aristocrat he really is. He's actually pretty friendly, sociable, and easy to get along with, sort of.

He prefers to keep things about himself a secret, but that doesn't stop him from saying too much when it comes to how he feels about other people. Which… when it comes to women, usually ends up with him being slapped in the face or getting beat up by said woman. Although intelligent, he doesn't really show it and can come across as a bit childish and immature at times, with his facial expressions being overly dramatic. He always seems to try and keep himself and those around him in good spirits, especially when times get rough. Usually by attempting to make jokes and witty puns, but failing miserably at them.

When it comes down to it, Nash's determination is much more consistent than the rest of his personality. Whenever he sets his mind on a goal, you can bet that he'll achieve it, no matter what happens or how long it takes. He's not above using deceit and his abilities as a spy either…

In short, he's a bit of a goof with a couple of shortcomings, but he's still a good, reliable person with good intentions.

[edit] History

Nash was born as the eldest son of the power and influential Latkje family in Harmonia. The Harmonian society, which was governed by a strict hierarchy placed Nash and his family at the top, as first-class citizens. He grew up with everything he needed, along with loving parents and a younger sister, Julie, and his aunt, Lena Suphina.

Nash's family had a very strict and demanding view on education. As a result, he was sent to the Howling Voice Guild for combat training under the teachings of Master Sauro. The training was intense and lasted for two grueling years, but he managed to gain great skill in combat, along with knowledge regarding the secret of gunpowder. With his new abilities, Nash entered the Temple Guards and mastered the use of the family heirloom: a double snake sword by the name of Grosser Fluss. Unfortunately, the Latkje family started its decline shortly after…

Nash's mother and father had died of a mysterious illness. However, there was some good news to be had: Julie was engaged to her tutor, Zaj Quilos, an adopted son of the Quilos family. Zaj was not all that he seemed though. Nash was able to learn his identity after taking a tissue sample of his dead father to Master Sauro. An examination revealed that he had been poisoned by a type of slow-acting venom known only to members of the Howling Voice Guild. Nash then discovered the identity of a squire-class gunner known as "Zaj of the Black Moon". During the night before his sister's wedding, Nash confronted Zaj, who admitted that he was the one who gave the poison to his parents. The two men fought each other until Nash drew Grosser Fluss and gave Zaj a mortal wound. Nash then fled to Crystal Valley, leaving the Latkje family in ruin while Julie was put under the protection of a Harmonian high priest.

He joined the Harmonian Southern Fringe Security Force (HSFSF) at Kaleria. Like Nash, the HSFSF was a place for people who had no place to return to while possessing some sort of special skills that made them especially effective as special ops agents.

His abilities allowed him to survive many missions within the HSFSF. However, on one particular mission, he was sent to Jowston to investigate clues regarding the True Runes. It was during this time he met up with Sierra Mikain and traveled with her for a bit. The two eventually went their separate ways, with Nash visiting many cities and meeting all sorts of new people. Along the way, Nash ended up in the city of Greenhill, where he assisted in defending the city from a wave of Highland Soldiers. Afterwards, Nash and several other warriors freed and rescued Teresa Wisemail, the mayor who had surrendered herself as per Highland's demands after seeing that she could do nothing to prevent the chaos the soldiers were making over the dwindling supplies. Teresa, Nash, and the others took a secret route through the forest. Once Teresa was placed in a small cottage, Nash resumed his journey and slipped through the enemy. During his escape, he encountered Zaj once again. He was still alive and was aiming to kill Nash.

After the meeting, Nash set off on a new journey for Crystal Valley, where he would settle things with Zaj once and for all. Like his previous trip, Nash was involved in many different situations, some problematic, others, not so much. Once he finally made it back to Crystal Valley, Nash had a violent and deadly duel with Zaj, killing him at last. After the battle, Lena asked him to stay in Harmonia, but Nash declined and disappeared once again.

He was going to stay at Desai University as an attempt to "lay low". Who would ever suspect a guy like him would enroll as a student in such a place?

[edit] Interactions

So far he seems to be getting along well with one Matsumoto Rangiku and Yamada Hanatarou and would like to get to know them better. He also tends to have conversations with one of the university's teachers, Sierra Mikain, an "acquaintance" from when he was searching for the True Runes.

[edit] Current Exploits
