Let the figure pull you out of the water

You have no choice. You have to get out of the water before you freeze to death.

You reach your own arms upwards. Two strong hands latch securely around your forearms and haul you out of the ice-cold stream.

You're still shivering uncontrollably. But the figure takes care of that as well, wrapping you in its arms and holding you against its chest. Its body gives off a lot of heat. Within five minutes you're warm again.

"I was going to finish the job by killing you," a voice whispers in your ear. "But I have a better idea."

"W-what is it?" you murmur, very frightened.

"Even us supernatural killers get lonely," the voice continues. "I can perform a ritual to make you into what I have become. Then we can hunt together, and when we're not hunting, be together. I'd love the companionship, and you have shown yourself to be resourceful as well as beautiful."

You hold still, unsure quite what to say or do.

"Of course, if you'd rather just die..."

You feel the tip of something very sharp trace a line along your back.

"...that can be arranged. But it would be such a waste."

You open your mouth and words emerge.

• "I'd rather just die than become an abomination like you."
• "Go ahead and perform your ritual on me to make me like yourself."
