"Stay here," you say, and though she starts to disagree, she finally just nods. You wander out of the living room and into the hallway leading back into the house.
You push open the first door you come to, and find an empty bathroom. You sigh softly. Then you move through the hall and push open the next door. A small child's bedroom. Empty. Again, you thank your lucky stars. You move past an open doorway, peering in to find an empty kitchen. Then, you move to the last door, and for a moment, think you hear a floorboard squeaking inside. Slowly, you put your hand on the knob and turn it, and then find the door yanked out of your hand. There, on the other side, is a large man, muscles rippling under shredded clothing, face covered with blisters. He growls, and looks ready to pounce.
