An Embarrassing Adventure/alley dog-kick

As your foot makes contact with the dog's head you hear a yelping noise, and you yank the towel from its mouth. With a ripping noise, more than a mouthful stays with the dog, but you have the towel and it should still be enough to cover you. You know full well how angry the already cantankerous dog is going to be, so you dash down the alleyway without even bothering to secure your towel.
You can tell without looking that the dog is in hot pursuit, barking its head off. This chase will definitely not last forever, and you are going to need an endgame strategy quickly.
You see some woods in the distance, though it is so far away that the dog may very well catch you by the time you reach them. It is not a great option, but it is the only option you can plainly see.
Other than the woods, there are a series of adjoining alleyways coming up on your left. It is a complete gamble, but it allows for the possibility of an obstacle capable of slowing down the dog, or the possibility of no help at all.
