An Embarrassing Adventure/alley dog-random alley

Twisting and turning down multiple alleyways, you fear you are losing your hold on where in town you are going to wind up. You make a hard left at one of the alleyways and hear the dog's claws skittering on the ground as he overshoots the turn and, from the sound of it, crashes into something.

The alleyway is blocked by a chain-link fence. Maybe it is just the adrenaline, but you think you can make it up and over by climbing the adjacent dumpster. If you are wrong about this, today is going to go from bad to horrible. Hopefully the dog is out of commission for the moment.

You pull yourself and your towel on top of the dumpster, grab a nearby pipe for leverage and carefully find your footing on the other side... just as the dog comes barreling down the alleyway after you. In a panic, you throw your other foot over the side before you are steady, and fall down on the other side of the fence. Fortunately (for once) your towel catches on the top of the fence, breaking your fall in mid-air. Unfortunately (as expected) this causes the towel to become entangled in the jagged chain-links, and you are forced to pull on it until it rips again.

The dog, despite a running start, is unable to get on top of the dumpster, so it seems you had more time than you thought. You wrap the towel back around you with the portion the dog ripped off at your back and the new, frayed rips at your waist. While you are still covered, it is getting to be a close shave.

Peeking out into the street, you have a feeling of dread as you confirm that you do not recognize this part of town at all. To your right is downtown were at least you might be able to find a landmark or two, but to your left is a residential district that is sure to be less populated in the afternoon.

Now that you have a second to think, where to?

• Downtown is the only real opportunity to figure out where I am.
• The residential district is less risky, and it should be closer to the spa.
• Forget leaving this alleyway. I'll wait for the dog to leave and climb back over.
