An Embarrassing Adventure/alley-walk away

You put your hands up to show that you mean it no harm, and slowly back away from the dog. In an attempt to show it you are not afraid of it, you turn your back to the dog and calmly stride down the alleyway as if it is not a threat to you.

It feels as if the dogs eyes are staring a hole through your back, but you do not hear barking, movement, or even growling. It is still a dangerous position because it has not decided what to do about you. You are making enough headway that you should be able to escape if need be.

In the distance you see a mid-sized forest. It is a far way to calmly walk, yet also presents the opportunity to get far away from the dog's territory. You do not know the forest well, but it is a fairly secluded area.

You also see the back of the spa coming up on your right. Perhaps if you break line of sight with the dog it will forget about you? Meanwhile, you could search for a way back into the building.

The dog is watching:

• If I turn, the dog might follow. Best to walk straight ahead into the forest.
• Out of sight: out of mind. Look for a way back into the spa.
