Network executives from Turner Broadcasting said today they had agreed to the outlines of a proposed channel buyout of Cartoon Network, with limits on CN originals and anime programming for viewers in anime fandom.

The agreement came a few minutes ahead of a meeting called by Taylor Media CEO Josh Taylor with Cartoon Network and Williams Street executives, along with network CEOs Ted Turner and Mike Lazzo this morning.

Executives said many of the final details were still being narrowed down, and that the deal still needed approval from Williams Street, but that the map for the largest network in the CN channel buyout since the Toonami block had been shut down.

“We are prepared to act expeditiously on a plan with Williams Street that will allow us to send a very strong message to the viewers,” said CEO Ted Turner.

Cartoon Network was renamed as The Crayon Channel after the deal was announced.

CEO Josh Taylor, R-Utah, said executive had a deal “that will be approved by Turner Broadcasting, approved by the Williams Street, be signed by the Taylor Media and bring a sense of certainty to the viewers.”
